‘2 Lakh Trees Felled In State’, IFS Officer To Move Court

Addressing mediapersons, Kakkar said: “I will move court for an impartial inquiry into the issue of two lakh trees being felled in the last four years. Out of these, one lakh have been cut in Ferozepur circle alone with active connivance of senior officers." He added the forest conservation act is being violated, as huge chunks of forest land is being used for non-forestry purposes with approval from the Union Ministry of Forests.
Kakkar alleged that he has the CD in which the range officer is seen telling the forest guard that the trees are being felled on the directions of senior officers. He also claimed to possess a CD, in which, the then forest minister Tikshan Sood is seen telling him how many trees are being felled across the state. Read the full report here.
