Since Sanctuary was established (1981), people from all over the country and beyond have used their voice and their power to tell corporations and political leaders that things have to and must change. And it’s working. More corporations and industries are being held responsible for their business practices. Petitions and protests are demanding transparency and influencing policy. Grassroots conservationists are being seen and heard. But the story is far from over. Since 1970, we have lost one-third of the world’s wild-lands, and in that time 60% of all mammals, birds, fish and reptiles have been wiped out. Climate change is real and it’s here.
