5 Down In UPA 2nd Innings

The UPA-II government has been hurtling from one disaster to another ever since it assumed power in May 2009, the latest being the Supreme Court quashing the appointment of P J Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner on Thursday.

 

This is not the first time that the government has ended up with egg on its face. At first, the problems were relatively minor - like ministers with a severe case of foot-in-mouth like Shashi Tharoor (remember cattle class?) and Jairam Ramesh (If there is a Nobel Prize for dirt and filth, India will win it, no doubt).
