Activists Seek Action Against Leopard Killers

In a letter to the NTCA and Ramesh, the WSO has also demanded that the state government be directed to submit fortnightly progress reports on the probe. It expressed shock that despite the chief minister announcing that strong action would be taken against the leopard killers nothing worth has been done so far.

"Though over five and half months have passed, the city forest division is yet to arrest all the accused and book them under the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 for killing a Schedule I species. The offence is punishable by a minimum jail term of three years and it cane be extended up to seven years," the letter said. Read the full report here.
