A show cause was issued by the ministry on Friday to the housing society over violation of coastal regulatory norms. Environment minister Jairam Ramesh , who blamed a âsystemic failure' at the local level for the construction of the 31-storey building, gave the Adarsh society 15 days to explain why bulldozers should not be sent in.
âIt is abundantly clear that the Adarsh Society had no permission to build any structure on the land. We don't need a CBI inquiry to tell us that the Coastal Regulatory Zone Act has been violated," the minister said. Read the full report here.
