All Environmental Laws Under Review, Says Jairam Ramesh

Jairam was speaking at the unveiling of major changes to the country's coastal regulations designed to make life easier for those living close to the sea or setting up projects there.

“All laws are under review. CRZ [coastal regulation zone] is the first one," he said, sounding a conciliatory tone to those who have been calling on him to tone down his ‘activism'.

Jairam has ruffled many feathers, including those of big industrial houses and his own ministerial colleagues and other government departments, with his uncompromising approach to implementing environmental laws. Read the full report here.
