But Valmik Thapar has long been inspired by Africa and the book is acknowledgment of that fact. Apart from the range of images he was able to shoot in 12 days, Thapar has put together a tight text that does provide a feel for the Masai Mara, an African habitat, which, in his own words: âhas incredible models of protection, anti-poaching, tourism, wildlife management." His hope is that books such as this âmight trigger some connections and result in new ideas that can play vital roles in keeping alive some of the world's most unique places."
