A delegation of MPs comprising Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Lagadapati Rajagopal, Nama Nageswara Rao, Undavalli Arunkumar and Kanumuri Bapiraju met minister Ramesh in Delhi and sought his support in reducing the size of the lake from contour five to contour three.

The proposed reduction in size would bring more than 15,000 acres of fresh water ponds under the control of fish and aqua traders, sources said.

The MPs raised the issue of downsizing the lake ahead of the expert committee report, which is likely to be submitted to the Centre on April 15. Read the full report here.
