The 192sqkm sanctuary proposal was readied by CR Gajbhiye, chief conservator of forests (CCF), Nagpur Territorial Circle, and was on Thursday forwarded to AK Saxena, additional principal chief conservator of forests (APCCF) for wildlife, East. This may be perhaps the first proposal for any sanctuary in India, which has been prepared in a month.
"I've just received the proposal. I will examine it before sending it to PCCF (wildlife). It will be sent to the state government after final discussions," Saxena told TOI.
At a time when leaders in the country dub forests a hurdle in economic development, the sanctuary proposal is being pursued by none other than Rajendra Mulak, minister of state for finance, energy, water resources, excise and planning. Read the full report here.
