Calling on minister of state (Independent Charge) for environment and forests Jayanthi Natarajan in New Delhi on Tuesday, Gamlin briefed the minister about the long-pending forest clearances for the Trans-Arunachal Highway and various power projects, official sources said here on Wednesday.
Apprising the minister on the delay caused in obtaining forest clearances which was a major hurdle for projects to achieve a financial closure and take up construction activities, Gamlin also emphasized on the delays having resulted in unsettling the project planning thereby leading to inevitable time and cost overruns.
"In order to reduce dependence of the state government on central assistance, development of hydro power is essential as it would provide a great opportunity for boosting the state's own revenues," Gamlin said. Read the full report here.
