Bid To Regulate Sunderbans Tourism Govt

The initiative came after Union environment and forests minister Jairam Ramesh expressed anxiety over the rise in commercial activities around sanctuaries (39 tiger reserves and 663 protected areas). Ramesh advised the states concerned to curb unregulated tourism, which is as big a threat to the country's tiger population as poaching and poisoning. Read the full report here.
