In India snakes are very common and there is a great diversity, especially in areas such as western ghats, north-eastern states and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There are 276 species of snakes in India. Still many of us know very little about them and are not able to identify them.
Do you know how Rat snake is identified? How to differentiate between Spectacled Cobra and Monocled Cobra? Why sea snakes are different from land snakes? To get the answers to these questions and many more BNHS is organising a full day workshop on snakes.
BNHS has one of the best collections of Indian snake species in the world with more than 3000 preserved specimens. In this workshop we plan to give basic information about how to identify snakes. Please note that we are not giving any knowledge about handling live snakes. Certificates will be given at the end of the workshop.
