Meanwhile, no information was made available on the money being allotted for the eight national missions drawn up under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). Tax benefits were offered to environmental organisations and budgetary allocations were increased for the National Ganga River Basin Authority. Some grants were also given to the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and the Botanical Survey of India. Understandably environmental groups are disappointed that verbalised concerns about the impact of climate change and forest loss were not backed by hard money.
