Byculla Zoo Plans To Keep 'Green Concerns' In Mind

The minister had written to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, calling the BMC proposal ''ill-advised and one that could gravely endanger the 150-year-old garden".

"We have slashed the proposed Rs 433-crore makeover of the Byculla zoo to a Rs 150-crore plan. We will ensure all concerns pointed out in the letter are sincerely addressed keeping in mind demands raised by the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee, the central zoo authority and environmental activists," said municipal commissioner Subodh Kumar.
