"Of the two officers in the panel, which probed the (Chaturvedi) case, one has recommended CBI probe into the matter. I am considering it. I never said that a CBI inquiry should not be conducted," said Ramesh, at a function in Ludhiana.
The minister said, "A CBI probe is a big issue. Before such a probe or a recommendation for it, I want to be fully confident that we have explored everything. Now, I have sought recommendation of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) of the Supreme Court about the CBI probe." A two-member panel set up by the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) to probe irregularities and violations of the Forest Act in Haryana had recommended CBI probe into the matter indicting the chief minister's office, cabinet minister Kiran Chaudhary and some senior officers of Haryana for the alleged "harassment" of Chaturvedi.
