Centre's Lens On Sunderbans

While releasing the Management Effectiveness Evaluation report, the MoEF has asked the officials to pull up their socks for better management of the mangrove land, which has one of the largest standalone tiger population in the country in a unique habitat.

It may be noted that Unesco, in its 1997 evaluation report for Bangladesh Sunderbans, questioned the integrity between the Bangladesh and Indian parts of Sunderbans. They failed to make any contacts with the staff in Indian Sunderbans while making the report. Read the full report here.
