Talking to reporters after a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Ramesh said: 'Solving the Yamuna issue is a long process as even by the end of 2015 we cannot be able to discharge treated affluents in the Yamuna.'
The national capital's plans to counter climate change had set a 2014-15 deadline for setting up sewage treatment plants with the capacity to ensure that all drainage water going in Yamuna is treated.
'Nearly 47 percent of Delhi doesn't have any organised sewerage network. Over 26 drains with untreated sewerage directly enters into Yamuna,' Ramesh said, adding that long-term projects were needed to save the river. Read the full report here.
