Photo: Wildlife Conservation Fund. The Cleanliness Drive, organised under the banner of ‘Go Green Jammu' project, aimed at making Manda Park a ‘Zero-Waste and Zero-Polythene' zone. The drive was supported by volunteers from Model Academy School and Diwan Badri Nath, Amar Villa, Jammu.
The collected waste was segregated at the source into biodegradable and non-biodegradable components. The biodegradable waste was managed on the spot using a composting technique, whereas the non-biodegradable waste was sent to the concerned authorities to be recycled.
Maple Organica Private Limited conducted an interactive demo-workshop on composting with the volunteers. The DWLP also provided masks and gloves to the volunteers in the interest of hygiene and safety.
The event was coordinated under the guidance of Amit Sharma, Wildlife Warden, Department of Wildlife Protection, J&K Government. Sharma assured support for all possible future green initiatives to be undertaken by Wildlife Conservation Fund .Â
