CM Clearing Zudpi Jungle Tangle

Zudpi jungles are lands that were once forest but now have become degraded forest. These are mostly owned by revenue department but have the status of forest and hence forest clearance is required for using this land for other activities.

The CM and union environment minister Jairam Ramesh had a prolonged discussion over the one lakh hectare zudpi jungle issue at Hyderabad House on Wednesday. Ramesh agreed in principle to several proposals of the state government.

Chavan told the media on Wednesday that Ramesh had in principle granted approval to the proposal of denotifying 32,230 hectare zudpi jungle which is in pockets having area less than three hectare. Read the full report here.
