Each month of the calendar portrays an endangered species like the tiger, Asiatic lion, vulture, golden langoor, etc, the purpose is to sensitise people. At the function in Delhi Soni was asked why the calendar missed out on dates for general elections. âThe dates will figure only in 2014," remarked Ambika, denying speculation on dissolution of the Lok Sabha earlier. Asked why Jairam Ramesh's picture did not figure in the calendar, Ambika shot back, âJairam and I are not endangered species!" Surprisingly, several All India Congress Committee spokespersons like Mohan Prakash, Satyavarth Chaturvedi and now Digvijay Singh, with his remarks on Hemant Karkare, have landed the party in embarrassment. As a result, credible spokespersons have become an endangered species in the party. Perhaps, the Congress should follow Soni and focus on âendangered species' of credible spokespersons, to prevent further embarrassment for the party.
PC surprises
It is no secret that Opposition leaders, especially those like L K Advani, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari and Shahnawaz Hussain are great film buffs. But, when one hears that Union home minister P Chidambaram also went to see a movie, it seems unbelievable. On a busy day, when A Raja's premises were being raided in Chennai, Chidambaram was busy seeing No one killed Jessica. Normally, BJP leaders see movies in the Films Division auditorium along with scribes. But Chidambaram was not all that kind to the media. One wonders if Chidambaram would have liked the film, especially as media is hailed in it.
Ambika's poser
The 2G Spectrum scam has exposed everyone. First, it was politicians, then it was the turn of bureaucrats and the latest are corporates. Now, with 800 new Radia tapes released, one expects more mudslinging among scribes to settle scores. Besides the tapes, Raja's diaries in CBI possession, also threaten to spill the beans on the politician-journalist-bureaucrat-industrialist nexus. Ambika Soni asked a TV journalist, âWhy is it that there were only one or two programmes on ethics being violated by journalists? You don't spare politicians when they violate rules. Do you?"
