"We are asking the states to carry out satellite mapping of coastal areas to identify violations of the old 1991 CRZ regulations. This will be done within the next four months. Action against the violators should then be taken," said Ramesh.

Citing the example of the Adarsh housing society, Ramesh said though the new CRZ norms won't be applicable to offences committed under the old regulations, such violations would not be condoned. Read the full report here.
