The first week of COP 17 ends in Durban today.
Next week, high-level ministers and heads of state from around the world are set to arrive in Durban to hopefully sign an agreement to cut down on harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
The emissions are causing global temperatures to rise, in turn leading to extreme weather conditions.
Newswatch spoke to East Coasters on Durban's North Beach, many of whom are not convinced that the people inside the ICC have their best interests at heart.
"It's good for the economy, but you just can't stop climate change," said a woman. "I mean, just look at what happened with the rain the other day. So many people lost their lives." Read the full report here.
