Could India Save The Planet?

Jairam Ramesh, India's environment minister, made a major impact at the Cancun summit - managing to bring together developed and developing countries throughout the world.

"In Cancun, Ramesh proved himself an international power broker, a star among the world's climate warriors," Newsweek magazine reports.

However, some of his efforts closer to home have been called into question.

He approved a $12 million (£7.4 million) deal for a steel plant, which is "clearly a boon to the country's economy". But the same investment will "also vanquish a track of pristine forest along India's eastern coast", reports Newsweek magazine. Read the full report here.
