Dikshit Forges Ahead With Waste To Energy Projects In Delhi

The residents and ragpickers were reportedly up in arms against the projects, while the minister had requested the Delhi government to reconsider the location of these plants.

However, the Dikshit government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court just a couple of days after Ramesh visited the project site at Okhla, claiming that the Timarpur-Okhla project would utilise 2050 tonnes per day of municipal waste (MSW), and generate over 16 MW of green electricity.

The government also claimed that the Ghazipur project would also process 1300 tonnes per day of MSW generated in the Trans-Yamuna area to produce 12 MW of green electricity. Read the full report here.
