The team had objectives to observe the current socio economic conditions of the tribal population in this backward region of Odisha. As one fourth of total population of Odisha are tribals and the KBK region is stigmatized as the most backward region of India DOSA investigated the truth about the intervention by political leaders, corporate and civil society organizations in this region. DOSA fact-finding team tried to assess the need of the community and to find out whether the work done by the private Industry Vedanta Aluminum Ltd. is in accordance with their need.

Observations:
The poor tribals of this region are the victims of the continuing nasty politics and unholy nexus between the groups with vested interest. The local community complains the apathy of Central Govt., the politics of Rahul Gandhi and the role of Jairam Ramesh to prepare a stage for Rahul Gandhi for his political ambitions. If Polavaram Project and Navi Mumbai Airport Project both in Congress ruled Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra could get Environment clearance by Central Govt. then why Odisha projects like this could not ?  Tribals need their economic upliftment, employment generation and improved social and physical infrastructure in Kalahandi which are blocked by by the opponents of Industrialisation. DOSA members when visited the Lanjigarh Youth Club found serious allegations against local Congress MP Mr. Bhakta Charan DaS for opposing Industrialisation in Kalahandi for his own self interest.
