Environmental Activist Denied Bail, Chained To Hospital Bed

He was arrested on May 28 from his residence in Raigarh on charges filed by the Jindal group. He applied for bail, but on Thursday the sessions court rejected his bail application.

The case against him dates back to June last year when Jindal Power Limited filed an FIR accusing him of using insulting language and inciting mischief during a public hearing of the company's upcoming project.

The hearing was held on May 8. The company was seeking environmental clearance for a 2400 MW thermal power plant to be built as part of its expansion plans. Read the full report here.
