Environmentalists say no to the World Bank

142 organisations have now signed a statement declaring that the Bank is unfit to manage the funds since it has conflicts of interest between the mandate to mitigate climate change, and its funding for fossil fuel projects and deforestation. Lidy Nacpil, coordinator of the Asia/Pacific Movement on Debt and Development said, âIt is sheer hypocrisy for the World Bank to claim any role in assisting the South in addressing the climate crisis when it continues to finance environmentally-destructive projects and policies."
