Forest Case (CEC) Update Issue 64, November And December 2010

The applicaant sought one week's time to file additional submissions and the advocate for the respondent sought two months. The matter is listed for heaing 18 January 2011.

 

The CEC said that it would file its report with the Supreme Court in I.A. No. 15841586 regarding the
closing down of the unauthorized/unlicensed saw mills in Ahmednagar.

 

In Application No. 1114 seeking permission for setting up a new saw mill at the Industrial Growth Centre, Bodhjungnagar in Sadar Forest Division, Tripura, the CEC sought details about the MoU that has been entered into, the process followed to identify the user agency and whether it was a transparent process, information about the availability and requirement of timber in the State, and whether there is any surplus timber in the State.
