In an April 20 letter to coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal, Ramesh pointed out that investors had a “misplaced perception" that if they are allotted blocks by one ministry, they expect others to “coordinate." This implies that multi-level clearances required for steel and power plants would not come automatically even if the investors secured blocks from coal ministry.
He further said his ministry has already told the coal ministry that the latter should bring blocks for green scrutiny well in advance. This, he noted, was done by the petroleum ministry under the New Exploration Licensing Policy and coal bed methane policy. Read the full report here.
