Global Tiger Day Celebrations With The Mhadei Research Centre

Volunteers from the Mhadei Research Center organised various events across Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra to spread awareness on the importance of protecting wildlife. They were supported by Sanctuary Asia, Save The Tiger, Wildernest Nature Resort and the Trust for Environment Education, Chennai. The events, which reached more than 2,500 individuals, included film screenings and discussions at the Mahalaxmi English High School, Goa; Government High School, Surla Sattari; Chate International School Skyes Extension, Kolhapur; Chetana Apangmati Vikas Kendra, Kolhapur; Rajashree Shahu High School, Kolhapur; Socorro Primary Government School; Branch Vikram High School, and ITM Design, Fashion and Technology Institute, Mumbai. A special programme was held for 357 inmates and 28 prison staff at the Kalamba Central Jail Kalamba, Maharashtra as well as one for the Honorary Forest Minister, Alina Saldhana, PCCF, Richard D'Souza and other forest staff at the Chorla Ghats. A drawing competition was hosted for students of the Swami Vivekanand Smruti Sangh and slide shows were conducted at schools in Kushevi village bordering the Anshi Tiger Reserve. To continue the kids' engagement with conservation, a second hand laptop was donated to the village school for the children to use! The centre also liaised with Cipla Pharmaceuticals to reach out to the company's employees and engage them in a discussion on conservation.
