Govt To Set Up Eco-Sensitive Zones Around 27 Protected Wildlife Areas

"The state government has agreed to demarcate eco sensitive zone around 27 protected areas. A notification would also be issued to this effect under the environment protection act 1986," Ramesh said.

There would be complete ban on mining and building resorts in the eco sensitive zone once the notification comes into effect, however, only selected plan based works would be allowed. "It would help curtail illegal mining," the minister said. Ramesh also reiterated his plan to re-introduce cheetah in Rajasthan.
