No MCD, no UD, Rai may join Delhi government
It seems to be a case of being unlucky twice for former NDMC chairman Parimal Rai. Government sources say, first Rai was being touted to take over as MCD commissioner after the incumbent KS Mehra got promoted. But the proposal failed to find favour with the ministry of home affairs (MHA) after Rai came in for flak for delay in completing some of Commonwealth Games related projects. Mehra, meanwhile, continued his role as MCD chief. According to the grapevine, Rai's name was again turned down by MHA for the post of joint secretary in the urban development ministry. According to ministry mandarin, Rai was all set to join the UD ministry but the adverse remark about NDMC during his tenure in the Shunglu committee report seems to have again turned the tide against him. Rai, a 1985 batch IAS of UT cadre is likely to join the Delhi government now. Read the full report here.
