With the International Tiger Forum being only six days away, local hunters in Khasan district of Primorye (Russian Far East) produced an unpleasant and terribly shocking surprise - they killed a 3-4-year-old male Amur tiger.
The Khasan district borders the Republic of North Korean and China and is home to the remaining 30 Amur leopards and a sub-population of just 8-15 Amur tigers.Â
According to our sources, on November 15, 2010, four men were conducting a deer drive during which one of the hunters encountered a tiger.
“Only several minutes passed after we parted to start the drive, when my brother called by his cell phone and asked our help. Immediately we rushed to the place where my brother had been seen recently. Upon approaching to the scene, I saw him leaning on a tree, with his head, hand and leg badly lacerated.
