India: Union Minister Clears Terms Of Reference For Vizhinjam Port Environment Impact Study

Speaking to scribes recently, the Union Minister said that the clock was now ticking, and added that the study would cover the three seasons comprising this monsoon, post-monsoon and the next (2012) monsoon.

Expected to take about a year for completion, the multi-thousand-crore project study would be sent back to the Ministry for its consideration, before the project is finally given the go-ahead.

Mr Ramesh emphasised that the study would be conducted with respect to the site chosen by the state government for constructing the seaport and container transhipment terminal. Read the full report here.
