Indian Minister 'Orders Elephant Poisoning Probe'

Four wild elephants - including two calves, a pregnant female and an adult male - have died over the last two weeks, according to the Associated Press. It is believed that the animals strayed slightly outside the boundaries of the Kaziranga National Park while searching for food.

One theory is that the elephants then accidentally consumed pesticides while eating grass at a nearby tea plantation. The use of such products is heavily restricted on land close to the park boundaries. Read the full report here.
