In the letter written earlier this month, he expressed concerns over the existing 64 MW Kurichu Project and yet to be built 720 MW Mangdechu Project. The minister also said that the impact of hydro projects in Bhutan should be âstudied better".
The minister said there was concern on the Kurichu Project executed by India in Bhutan and its downstream impacts in districts like Barpeta, Baska, Nalbari and Kamrup in Assam. He has also indicated that the Mangdechu project would adversely affect the Manas River that flows into the Brahmaputra. Read the full report here.
