India's MNRE Supports PV Systems For 400 Telecom Towers

Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah stated that his agency supported these projects primarily to demonstrate the efficiency of such systems in replacing diesel generation in areas without secure electricity supplies.

Majority of systems in Uttar Pradesh, Andra Pradesh, Bihar.

The 400 projects include 100 each for telecom operators Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL, New Delhi, India), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (New Delhi, India), Indus and GTL Ltd. (Navi Mumbai, India).

The towers are located in multiple Indian states, with GTL's 100 tower PV projects in Uttar Pradesh, Indus' 100 systems in Andra Pradesh, and Airtel's 100 systems in Bihar. Read the full report here.
