Jairam Ramesh said an Experts Appraisal Committee would evaluate on Nov. 9-10 the findings of earlier panels on the $12 billion mill, billed as India's biggest foreign direct investment whose progress is being monitored by the prime minister's office.

The committee's findings would not be binding and a final decision on what has come to be seen as a test case of India's investment climate lies with Ramesh.

"I'll take a comprehensive decision," Ramesh told reporters.

Ramesh's decision will come within a day or two of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh travelling to South Korea to attend a G20 summit and some official sources saw that as a hint of possible positive news for Posco. Read the full report here.
