Innovations Needed To Conserve Energy, Says Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan

"In my mind there is no conflict between environmental protection and development. We have to see both together. We have to achieve sustainable development along with poverty eradication," the minister said.

Many industrialists have been concerned about denial or delay in environmental clearances for large industrial and mining projects but the minister said development and environment protection should go hand in hand.

She said India was well placed to conserve resources as the country already had culture of recycling as people are frugal. She streseed to need to improve energy efficiency. Read the full report here.
