International genetic corridor for tigers

The corridor would stretch from Arunachal Pradesh to Myanmar, including extensive areas of Bhutan, Thailand and Malaysia and could potentially link up with areas in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. At the meeting, Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, formerly of WCS and now co-director of Tigers Forever, a WCS/Panthera Foundation collaboration, said that genetic corridors will be crucial to the long-term survival of tigers because they will allow the animals to travel and hence, decrease likelihood of inbreeding.
