The Lavasa promoters, who were served with a “ stop work" notice last week, had on Monday questioned Jairam's intent and dubbed it as malafide.
Jairam, on Tuesday, came under attack not only from Lavasa Corporation, a unit of the Hindustan Construction Company, but also from NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.
Pawar, in fact, has complained to the Prime Minister that the Ministry's showcause notice was politically motivated and intended to embarrass him, as the project was his brainchild. Since Jairam knew the background, Pawar felt he should have been consulted before the notice was served on the builders.
“ I can't understand why the notice was served on Lavasa. Some 1,600 houses in Lavasa have been already sold. Also many daily- wage labourers were engaged in the construction work," Pawar was quoted as stating. Read the full report here.
