Laying the foundation stone for the Rs145 crore textile mall project at Gangapuram here on Saturday, he said that Congress leaders should influence Ramesh and apprise him of the pollution caused by textile effluents.
Maran pointed out that around Rs 500 crore was granted by the Centre after he assumed office for the effluent treatment plants set up by Tirupur-based units and a detailed project report for marine discharge scheme was also ordered.
When A Ganesamurthy MP and Vidiyal Sekar MLA voiced concern about the unchecked pollution, he said that the government is taking steps to tackle the problem. Read the full report here.
