Jayanthi Natarajan Wary Of EU's Carbon Emission Tax On Airlines

"I shall stick my neck out and say, for the environment ministry, yes the unilateral measure by EU... is a deal breaker for talks. I strongly believe that as far as climate change discussions are concerned, this is unacceptable," said Natarajan, who is the leader of India's climate change negotiating team.

New Delhi has consistently opposed, even before European Union law came into effect on January 1 this year, to the inclusion of airlines in the EU-Emission Trading Scheme. Wednesday's statement is by far the toughest by India on this issue. Read the full report here.
