Reacting to the report in Kashmir Monitor amicus curiae to the High Court and senior Advocate Zaffar A Shah said that he would push for demolition of the structure along with punishment for all officers who had connived in this matter. “It is absolutely illegal. Constructions in and around notified wildlife sanctuary are prohibited. Reportedly the construction has come up without any permission that amounts to gross violation of law", Shah told Kashmir Monitor.
The senior advocate added that he would also pursue the matter of how official machinery had been used to facilitate transportation of raw material. “It is an abuse of authority to use official vehicles for carriage of building material as reported. The concerned authorities must immediately take action for demolition in accordance with the law. I will bring it to the notice of the Honourable High Court in the PIL already pending before the court and seek appropriate directions. The authorities concerned have openly connived with the builder for oblique motives. They also need to be dealt with", Shah added.
Meanwhile top government officials have already been informed about the wrong doings at Dachigam, sources told Kashmir Monitor. Sources say that the CID had been asked to prepare a detailed report including how an official bullet proof vehicle was used to ferry raw material.
Meanwhile various government organisations including the SMC, LWDA swung into action to ascertain how such a huge building was allowed to come up. Though when contacted by The Kashmir Monitor Commissioner Dr. GN Qasba said that the matter pertained to LAWDA, yet sources told Kashmir Monitor that a high level SMC team led by Chief Revenue Officer Aijaz Ahmed visited Dachigam for a fact finding report.
