The rally, in association with Happy School, saw over 1,000 children from schools across Delhi gathering at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti near Rajghat, to commemorate the International Day of Forests.
The rally was flagged off by the legendary Bedi brothers, Naresh and Rajesh, whose wildlife films have consistently added to the strength of the wildlife movement in India for several decades. Between skits, painted posters, banners and loud calls to ‘Save Our Tigers', the children sent poignant reminders to the adults in their lives about the need to protect India's natural heritage. The rally ended with a tree plantation drive and the children left the venue delighted to have been part of the movement to protect wildlife.
Speaking on the occasion, Brinda Malhotra, Head - Corporate Social Responsibility, Aircel, said, “Kids for Tigers helps us to reach out to the younger generation and make them a part of this cause. The tiger is our national animal and the youth of the country will play a significant role in protecting India's biodiversity and ensuring a healthy population of tigers. With such initiatives, we hope to increase awareness among young children and the youth and sensitise them to the fact that saving tigers and their forests is vital to our country's food and water security."
