Students of Central School in Umaria near Bandhavgarh National Park attended a film screening on July 27 depicting the importance of tiger conservation followed by a poster competition. They also took part in a rally to show their support for the tiger and the Leave Me Alone campaign on Global Tiger Day (July 29). Thirty teachers from over 15 schools around the Corbett region took part in a workshop organised by The Corbett Foundation on July 29.
The one-day workshop aimed to generate and spread awareness about the plight of the tiger and discuss strategies for the conservation of its natural habitat. The purpose of the workshop was to build a well-informed community of teachers who could share their experience and knowledge with school children and local communities to educate them about the importance of conservation. Satish Chandra Upadhyay, Park Warden, Corbett National Park, was the chief guest at the workshop. He was present for the entire session and answered the queries of the participants. At the end of the workshop, a series of awareness activities for the current school year was finalised after discussing it with the participants.
The Corbett Foundation celebrated Global Tiger Day in Kanha as well where they organised an educational skit and drawing competition for the students of the Higher Secondary School, Janpur. This event, organised by Naturalist Trainees, showcased the plight of tiger in its habitat and its important role in the food web of Kahna National Park. The message struck the right chord among students, and they created some thoughtful, beautiful drawings.
