The rally was flagged off by Rajeev K. Srivastava, Chief Conservator, Annamalai Tiger Reserve. It wound its way through the streets of Pollachi in Coimbatore with a van holding up the Leave Me Alone poster and a person with a microphone telling the general public about the urgent need to save the tiger. Pamphlets on the importance of Global Tiger Day were distributed to people on the street. The rally ended at Mariammal Girls High School, where a talk on the need to conserve tigers was given by Mohammed Ali, Secretary of the Natural History Trust. At the end of his talk, he invited forest guards and the anti-poaching watchers of the Annamalai Tiger Reserve up on stage to honour them for their committed service.
On the same day, a similar rally was organised at Annamalai village where traditional tiger dancers performed and the guards of the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary were also honoured.
This event spread awareness across the city and garnered a lot of attention.
