‘Leave Me Alone’: Kids For Tigers In Sawai Madhopur Celebrate Global Tiger Day

School children urge the Indian government to protect tigers and their habitats.

Sanctuary's Kids for Tigers' programme in Sawai Madhopur held a series of events to garner support for the country's dwindling tiger populations. Schools held a poster drawing competition, a debate and a signature campaign. Over 350 children gathered on July 24, 2013, for a rally to spread awareness on the importance of protecting wildlife and to urge ministers to ensure the continued protection of the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. The children marched around the main market waving posters and banners. The rally ended with a talk by Kids for Tigers' Coordinator Govardhan Meena and Ranthmabhore's Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Prakash Chand Kumawat.
