Maharashtra Set To Make Its ‘Mark’ On Tourist Ban

An expert committee formed by the state forest department barely two days after the SC ruling came into effect on July 24, will meet in Nagpur on Thursday, to take a call on the boundary of buffer area of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve.
Once decided, Maharashtra will be the first state to list buffer areas of all its tiger reserves. This has been the key issue of contention in the SC case.
Confirming that all formalities are over, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) and chief wildlife warden of Maharashtra, SWH Naqvi, told DNA on Tuesday, “We are meeting on August 9 for taking a final decision on demarcating boundary of the buffer area in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve."
