Maoists Bartering Ivory For Arms?

Officials claim that elephants are being hunted down for ivory by Maoists. The ivory is smuggled to China from the borders of Nepal & Bangladesh in exchange of arms & ammunitions.

Inside the dense jungles of Raigad in Chhatisgarh Elephants are hunted down and mercilessly killed for white gold-for ivory.

The poaching goes far beyond money. Besides extortion from road contractors, officials claim Maoists in CG-Orissa borders are felicitating ivory smuggling by paving their way to China via Nepal via red corridors and in return the Maoists are receiving arms and ammunition.
